Cascades Female Factory Aboriginal Interpretation gallery

Statement for Country by Theresa Sainty.

Filmed and edited by Rebecca Thomson for The Unconformity.
Music by Theresa Sainty and Jodi Haines, performed by Kartanya Maynard, Jude Reid, Jodi Haines and Merinda Sainty.

Milangkani means ‘to grow’ and this is the philosophy that underpins our work. We are creative collaborators inspired to build relationships, explore ideas and grow projects that are authentic, empowering and unique.

Acknowledgement

Milangkani Projects acknowledge that wherever we are in Lutruwita (Tasmania), we are on the unceded sovereign Country of the Palawa people (Tasmanian Aborigines).
We remember Palawa Ngini (our Old People) who fought against the invasion and colonisation of our island, and who died as a result.
We treasure their memory and sacrifice, and look to our Elders, past and present for guidance.
We are inspired by their ingenuity, determination, innovation and Community-led vision.
nayri nina-tu (thank you).
